Man on Wire...

I saw this documentary on a wirewalker the other night and was blown away, this is the best documentary I've seen in a while. This Parisian Man, back in the 70's tight-wire walked across the Twin Towers... The movie is worth watching because they document how the whole production took place. You have to check out this film!

First African Skatepark...

The Kitintale Skate Park in Kampala Uganda is the first and only skateboard park in Africa. The number of kids skating from the initiation of the skate park were thirty, today there are little over fifty kids skating. Photographer Yann Gross shot some very cool environmental portraits of some of the locals there. A skatepark in Africa, thats crazy!

Check this blog for more info.

Barry McGee on Current TV

Check out this short Current TV interview with Barry that was filmed at the Riverside Art Museum in May 2008 on the occasion of his show with Clare Rojas entitled the The Big Sad. Footage includes interviews with Ed Templeton and others.

Evan Hecox + Ace Hotel + Arkitip

Arkitip and Ace Hotel are working together to offer a series of original silkscreen prints, designed by artist Evan Hecox, as those keepsakes. Based on the unique desert vernacular, the works hang in the guest rooms at Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs, and you will be able to purchase them right off the wall. Evan Hecox bases his work on his observations of urban environments and the people that inhabit them, combining the eye of a photographer with his love of drawing, painting and printmaking. Hecox spent a week photographing the Palm Springs area, and drew upon those images and experiences to create the body of work that is exhibited at Ace Hotel. In taking on Palm Springs as subject matter he embraces a more organic side of his aesthetic, combining architectural forms with the unique desert landscape of the area. His attraction to old signage, vintage cars and other bits of fading American culture is perfectly suited to capturing Palm Springs. Through this series of prints he finds both the picturesque aspects and the seedier side of this unusual desert world.
